The beginning of fall marks the beginning of flu season. While the flu can be year-round, it is most common during fall and winter, and can last through February or as late as May. Here are some healthy habits to protect yourself from the flu during flu season. Avoid Close Contact with People Who Are Sick Try to avoid close contact with those who are sick. If you are sick, keep your distance to prevent others around you from getting sick too. Stay Home If You Are Sick Rest up! If you’re sick, stay at home. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. Not getting enough sleep will lower your immune system. Cover Your Mouth and Nose Cover your cough and sneezes with a tissue. If you cough or sneeze into your hands, clean your hands with soap and water. If you’re traveling, or going out with friends and family, keep some hand sanitizers with you.
